Match Report
Guildford Grammar School Junior Girls vs  Various
On: Monday, 19 Mar 2018
Venue: Away

On Monday GGS participated in the 2018 SunSmart Schools Tennis Classic, entering their first ever junior girls’ team in the Girls Herbert Edwards Cup. The group of five GGS girls made their way down to Robertson Tennis Club to play other teams from schools such as Perth Modern, St Brigid’s, St Mary’s, Applecross and more. It was an intensive day of match play as each round of the round robin format, consisted of four singles and two doubles. The GGS girls were able to gain experience from facing the different players, as well as having the opportunity to play tennis in a team environment with fellow students. The team fought hard and were able to make it into the quarterfinals where they lost out on getting into the semi-finals by 1 game. Such a good effort was enhanced by the sportsmanship and teamwork shown by the GGS girls, as it was notable how well they competed and how well they gelled as a team. After the day was finished the girls were asked how they were finding the newly co-ed high school, they replied that they enjoyed the sporting opportunities that GGS has to offer and appreciate the programs that are available to them at the school. Overall it was a fantastic day of competitive tennis, with a great team of girls who respectably represented their school.
