Guildford Grammar School 1st VIII vs  Scotch College
On: Saturday, 05 Sep 2020
Venue: at Home

Our 1st players finished the season on a 3-6 loss to Scotch College at home. It was the final fixture for many of our players as they leave GGS at the end of the year so an emotional end for some.

Callum Partington finished really well, playing one of his best badminton to win both singles and doubles alongside Will Tang. Our captain Woodrow McKechnie was feeling the weight of expectations on his shoulders and sadly couldn't produce his best in his singles but he rallied with Jake Manolini though they ended up losing 19-21 in the third set.

Jake was tired after winning his singles in three very tight sets and some of the longest rallies I've ever seen 16-21 21-18 21-18.

Rest of the team was competitive but were lacking a little in talent to be able to clutch more sets.

No luck winning this year but nevertheless, the team proved competitive throughout and I know that everyone enjoyed themselves.

Best of luck to our Year 12s for their exams and their future. Hope you keep playing badminton after school.
